“In my paintings there is a breaking up of subject matter – a simplification and elimination of detail.
The images hover between representation and abstraction.”
Margaret Crook was born and brought up in Lancashire; she now shares her time between Cornwall and Oxfordshire. Her paintings on paper and canvas involve complex layering of varied media from conte crayon to acrylic and oil based paints. The inspiration of the Cornish environment is inherent in her work which explores the interrelationship of forms and how they link to create balance and visual harmony.
