Dean Patman lives and works in Bristol.
He has always been a little nutty about animals and the majority of his childhood was spent hunting creatures in the garden. At school his teachers soon learnt that the best way to motivate him was to make the lessons about animals. He especially loved being able to draw and model, so art and natural history have always gone hand in hand for him.
He initially studied scientific illustration, but then decided that he needed a more creatively challenging outlet and joined the Graphic Design course at Central St Martins, graduating in 1998. It was at St Martins that he first worked with recycled materials, and through a 'one off' project, he found that he enjoyed creating animals from found objects so much, that he has continued to do this ever since.
