Roger Hardy was born in 1969 and lives and works in Suffolk, close to where he was born and raised.
After graduating from Kingston upon Thames University with a degree in Graphic Design in 1993, he had a successful career in design creating among other things the Wall’s ice cream logo.
By 2000 he left London to return to his native Suffolk to become a fine artist, turning his back on a successful career. His passion was always making constructions and painting.
Collecting found objects ‘with soul’ he creates unique sculptures. Often using old hand tools with a previous history they imbue the new forms with life. He associates this way of working with childhood memories of spending time in his grandfather’s workshop.
“With his keen eye for shapes and for absurdities Roger Hardy makes mundane objects graceful, and ordinary things remarkable.” LIBBY PURVES, writer, broadcaster.
